What is an ECU Remap?
Vehicle engines have sensors that monitor readings such as airflow, crank position and throttle position. These readings get sent to your ECU (Engine Control Unit), which processes the information and control parameters which affects the output of your engine.
When car manufacturers distribute their cars, they use a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to installing a map. So in reality, your vehicles ECU isn’t optimised for your individual situation or location.
How does an ECU remap work?
Larkins Automotive services will always ensure that we’re putting your needs and individual requirements first. We’ll actually read your own engine’s map file, modify it and then re-upload it back onto your ECU.
We tailor your vehicles remap to suit your needs to make sure you’re achieving exactly what you want before uploading it back onto your ECU. With a remap, it’s possible to release extra power and torque from your engine without any reliability issues. Many of our customers have been impressed and reported back that they’ve seen a huge improvement in performance and also with their miles per gallon once their engine has been remapped by us. Be aware that although many customers experience improved fuel economy, this will be subject to your own driving style.
We will always perform a full diagnostics check of your engine and advise you accordingly if there are any potential problems or components that need replacing prior to a remap.
